Everyone must get and is entitled to his or her fair share of ‘happenings’. But there are those of us who look for something ‘happening’ in everything that’s happening. It doesn’t take much intellect to make that happen. It’s just a matter of being at the spot and on the time and a keen sense of ‘non-sense’ observance. And all this results in making life a laughing stock for good.
You can curse your presence of mind or laugh out merrily when you find yourself searching for your specs when you are already wearing them. A sardarji makes a fool of his own when he shouts ‘oye! Stop’ at a train when he’s putting his stuff on board a moving one. After all it’s not a bus or a cab. A girl drops her bag and gets down to pick her things up, when her short top and tight pants reveal more than necessary of her fannies. She shies away with an embarrassing face and you think every human being has a rear, why to feel humiliated. Then your mind starts canvassing everyone around you naked. But you drop that thought on the spur of the moment. How civilized!!
You always stare at girls, that’s quite commonplace. But this time a girl’s been looking at you for long enough for you to go to her and ask, “Hey! How do you do”, “Actually it’s the shirt. My boy friend’s a similar one, that’s it”, replies the girl nonchalantly. You back off thinking that the girl’s been caught off-guard and she came up with a lame excuse. But it doesn’t take very long for a hideous guy to appear from nowhere with a plate full of burgers and soft drinks. He goes to the girl, she kisses him and you find out that the dude’s indeed wearing a similar shirt.
You pride yourself on never loosing any of your stuff when people around you are on a spree of insane forgetfulness of where their things are. It’s somewhere between that incessant pride that you find your cell phone is missing. But you are smart enough to recall that you’ve left it at Coffee Shop. You bless your phone with a shower of pleasant ‘lucky’ words. In the evening, you are standing outside a building where your friend works. You’ve to give him a call so that he can get you an entry. But you find that your phone’s battery is gone. You ask people around for Nokia battery but you forget yours is an antique model and even the cab drivers have got N series or Moto now. Now you curse your phone with a storm of ‘sacred’ words reserved for such occasions. Fortunately, there comes an angel who drives a TATA INDICA. He gives you his battery. You work things out. And your temper’s gone with the wind.
And there’s more. You spot a guy trying to jump and saddle a bike which is little higher than his tight jeans can allow him to stretch. You give out a dumb laugh only to find that you’ve torn your own jeans while sprinting the other day.
All this happens. That’s life. Rather that’s what makes life ‘life’. So be ‘happening’ and keep looking for ‘happenings’.
wow! a marvelous description….I felt like being through these happenings and enjoying the aftereffect hysteria.
I have also my share of experience – I was with my friend walking in a crowded market, with my hand around his shoulder. Piercing my way through the crowd I found my hand resting on somebody’s else shoulder and the guy knowing this was deliberately keeping pace with me for sometime….when I later realised I laughed insanely.
